Snakes of the Southeast

By Jekyll Island Authority (other events)

43 Dates Through Jun 30, 2024

ABOUT ABOUT

This new, all-ages experience highlights some of the most beautiful and misunderstood animals of the Southeast: our native snake population. Participants can have a hands-on encounter with our non-venomous and a close-up view of one of our venomous animal ambassadors. Guests will learn about the extensive conservation efforts for snakes and other wildlife on Jekyll Island, tips for identification and safe encounters, the importance of them to the ecosystem, and how you can help ensure these unique animals remain safe in our environment.

Restrictions

This program is purely educational and should not encourage participants to intercept or handle wildlife on Jekyll Island or anywhere else. Snakes encountered in nature are wild and should be respected as such.

While venomous snakes will be present during this program, they will not be removed from their enclosures or handled by staff at any point.

Emotional support animals or companion pets are not allowed – Trained service animals under Georgia & ADA laws only.
