6 Dates Through Jun 30, 2023

ABOUT ABOUT

Calling all sea turtle enthusiasts, junior scientists, aspiring marine biologists, and conservationists ages 6 to 9 years old!  The Georgia Sea Turtle Center invites 6-9 year old campers to enjoy our 5-day camp for fun-in-the-sun activities, field-based adventures and, of course, sea turtles! Each day will focus on turtle biology, conservation, and ocean exploration. Campers will explore turtle habitats of Jekyll Island, from sandy beaches to muddy marshes, and even embark on an eco-trawl to discover what ocean animals live nearby!

Ocean Explores Camp is offered Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-2p.m. with select opportunities for camp families to join in the adventures. Partial registration is not available.

Monday
Explore the Georgia Sea Turtle Center! Campers will meet our patients, explore our Learning Center, tour the sea turtle hospital and treatment room, meet our mascot Scute C. Turtle, and participate in fun, turtle themed activities.

Tuesday
Explore the salt marsh! During a field excursion to the salt marsh, students will learn all about this exciting ecosystem. They will meet a diamondback terrapin and participate in activities that demonstrate how the marsh is connected to the ocean.

Wednesday
Explore the beach! During a trip to the beach, campers will participate in an ecology walk and turtle themed activities. We will learn all about how people and sea turtles explore the ocean.

Thursday
Explore our impact! During an exciting eco-trawl, campers will have the chance to gain hands-on experience with ocean animals such as shellfish and fish that live in the salt marsh. We will learn about actions we can take to help the ocean and how we are all ocean conservationists.

Friday
Explore your success – it’s graduation day! Campers will participate in a morning scavenger hunt at the Georgia Sea Turtle Center. To end the day, we will hold a graduation ceremony so that campers can share their experiences with their families.
