ABOUT ABOUT

Jennifer Thalheimer is a curator at the Charles Hosmer Morse Museum of American Art in Orlando, Florida. The Morse Museum houses the world's most comprehensive collection of works by Louis Comfort Tiffany, including jewelry, pottery, paintings, art glass, leaded-glass lamps, and windows. Ms. Thalheimer and Mosaic, the Jekyll Island Museum present this program in honor of the 100th anniversary of Tiffany's Bourne Memorial Window in Faith Chapel.

Some of the most remarkable art created by Louis C. Tiffany’s studios can be found in local places of worship. By the 1880s a full-fledged revival was occurring in the United States and Tiffany sought to beautify as many of the ecclesiastical structures then under construction as he could. Ms. Thalheimer will present Tiffany’s vast religious works, the variety of decoration offered, and discuss specific commissions…including Faith Chapel’s magnificent window.

This event takes place at the Jekyll Island Convention Center.
