Behind the Scenes tours are 45-minute semi-private guided tours of the staff-only areas. Behind the Scenes tours start with an introduction to the center and review behavior guidelines. The group is led to the hospital and food preparation areas to learn about veterinary and husbandry practices. Participants meet patients that cannot be seen from public areas. This tour does not include feeding, touching animals, or tankside access to sea turtles.
Purchase includes free general admission to the GSTC for each ticket holder. After the tour concludes, you will be escorted to our general admission area. Your general admission is valid for one hour after your Behind the Scenes tour concludes.
Service animals are prohibited on Behind the Scenes tours. Portions of Behind the Scenes tours are not accessible. If you have questions about the accessibility of the program, please email ([email protected]) at least one week before your visit.
MEETING TIME:
Check-in by 2:50 p.m. Bring your printed or e-receipt/tickets included in your purchase confirmation.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The tour lasts up to one hour and includes standing in place for long periods. Participants may come in contact with strong smells such as raw seafood and see injections/blood. Participants may also walk on slippery wet floors.
AGE LIMIT:
Participants must be at least 10 years old on or before the tour date. Participants 10-15 years old are required to be accompanied by an adult (18+) on the tour.
ATTIRE:
All participants are required to wear closed-toed shoes during the tour.
PROHIBITED ACTIVITIES:
-Unauthorized touching or harassment of animals
-Dropping items in animal enclosures
-Entering unauthorized areas
GUARANTEE:
The Georgia Sea Turtle Center does not guarantee that guests will observe a patient treatment or operation while participating in the program. The Georgia Sea Turtle Center is not responsible for any injury or complication that arises while participating in this program. Participants must comply with all instructions, including but not limited to prohibited activities (e.g., touching animals). Non-compliance will result in the termination of the program with no refund. Tours may be canceled without advanced notice due to emergency veterinary procedures. In the event of a cancellation, a full refund for the tour will be offered.
