Evening Turtle Walk

By Jekyll Island Authority (other events)

74 Dates Through Jul 27, 2019

ABOUT ABOUT

Explore the beach at night and learn about the amazing journey of loggerhead sea turtles nesting along the Georgia coast.  Your program begins with a MANDATORY 30 minute presentation (located in the Georgia Sea Turtle Center) where you will learn about sea turtle biology, threats, and how you can help!

Please arrive 15 minutes before the start time for check-in.  After the presentation, participants will caravan to the beach access location in their personal tranportation. The walk will last approximately 1-1.5 hours and is dependent on sea turtle activity. Along the way, guides will lead a variety of activities while we wait for potential nesters.

Evening Turtle Walks are conducted in June and July. Reservations are required as group size is limited by Georgia Department of Natrual Resources permitting restrictions (25 per group maximum) and programs fill quickly.

Purchase includes free general admission to the GSTC for each ticket holder. General admission can be used the day before, the day of, or the day after your scheduled walk.
