Are you an early riser? Join the Georgia Sea Turtle Center on a Sunrise Turtle Walk to explore the wonders of Jekyll Island's beach ecology. Your guide will introduce you to the basics of sea turtle nesting and hatching, the ecological history of Jekyll, and any wildlife you come across. One of the potential activities could be the opportunity to witness an excavation of a recently hatched sea turtle nest. To adhere to excavation permits, we cannot guarantee there will be a nest excavation during these walks. Sunrise Turtle Walks are offered Thursday-Saturday at 7:00 am in August. Program participants must provide their own transportation to the beach access point.
Group size is limited to 15 people per walk by DNR permit restrictions.
Children must be at least 6 years old to attend. Participants under 16 are requried to be accompanied by someone 18 years or older.
If you have any specific needs to participate, please call ahead (912) 635-4141) or email ([email protected]) to let us know how we can help you.
